How to Plan the Perfect Surprise Holiday

The best gift isn't a thing — it's an experience they never saw coming. How surprise holidays work, the best destinations, and how our concierge plans everything without your partner knowing.

How Surprise Holidays Work

The process is simpler than you think — because we handle the hard parts.

Step 1 — Tell us about them

Message our concierge and describe the person you're surprising. What do they love? Beach or city? Adventure or relaxation? Any dates that don't work? Dietary needs? Fears? The more we know, the better the surprise.

Step 2 — We plan everything

We research destinations, check availability, and come back with 2-3 options. You choose your favourite. We book flights, hotels, transfers, restaurants, and activities. All confirmations go to your email only.

Step 3 — Keep the secret

We send you a packing guide (vague enough to not reveal the destination), timing instructions, and a suggested cover story. For partners who might check your email, we can communicate via WhatsApp only.

Step 4 — The reveal

On the day, you decide how to reveal. Some people hand over a boarding pass at breakfast. Some drive to the airport and announce it at check-in. Some wait until they're on the plane. We can arrange a printed reveal card or a custom clue trail.

Step 5 — Enjoy

Your full itinerary is on your phone. Restaurant bookings confirmed, transfers arranged, activities scheduled. You look like you planned for months. Our concierge is on call throughout the trip if anything needs adjusting.

Surprise Weekend Ideas

Short on time, big on impact.

Cotswolds country house

Drive two hours from London, arrive at a honey-stone country hotel with a roaring fire and a bottle of champagne waiting. Walks, pub lunches, and the spa. Perfect for a birthday or anniversary surprise.

From £600 for the weekend

Scottish castle

Tell them to pack warm. Drive to the airport, board a short flight (or helicopter), and arrive at a turreted castle in the Highlands. Whisky, open fires, and mountain views. The ultimate dramatic reveal.

From £1,200 for the weekend

Paris by Eurostar

Meet them at St Pancras with a pair of Eurostar tickets. Two hours later, you're in Paris. A boutique hotel in the Marais, dinner at a candlelit bistro, and a morning walk along the Seine. Back Sunday evening.

From £800 for the weekend

Cornwall coastal retreat

Cliff-top hotel, spa, and Atlantic views. Arrive Friday evening, spend Saturday on the beach or coastal path, and leave Sunday feeling like you've been away for a week. The Scarlet or Watergate Bay for maximum romance.

From £700 for the weekend

Best Surprise Holiday Destinations

Where to take them when they don't know where they're going.

Marrakech

Three nights in a riad with a rooftop pool. Souk shopping, hammam spa, Atlas Mountains day trip, and dinner in the Palmeraie under the stars. Warm, exotic, and only three hours from London. The surprise reveal at the airport is always incredible.

Amalfi Coast

Fly to Naples, transfer to Positano or Ravello. Lemon groves, clifftop restaurants, and a private boat day along the coast. The kind of surprise that makes them cry at the airport.

Iceland

Northern Lights in winter, midnight sun in summer. Geysers, waterfalls, Blue Lagoon, and landscapes that look like another planet. Perfect for the partner who loves adventure.

Maldives

The ultimate luxury surprise. Overwater villa, private dining on the beach, and nothing to do except swim, eat, and watch the sunset. Ten hours from London, a universe away from everything.

Santorini

Caldera views, whitewashed villages, and the most photographed sunset in the world from your private plunge pool. Three nights of pure Greek romance. Short flight, enormous impact.

Lake Como

Fly to Milan, drive to the lake. Grand Hotel Tremezzo, a private boat, and dinner in Bellagio. Mountains reflected in still water, gardens in bloom, and the quiet elegance of the Italian lakes.

How to Keep It Secret

The secret is the hardest part. Here's how our clients keep the surprise intact.

Communication

We only contact you — never your partner. Choose WhatsApp, email, or phone. If they might see your email, we use WhatsApp only. Confirmations are sent as PDFs you can delete after reading.

Packing

We send you a vague packing list that doesn't reveal the destination. "Pack for warm weather and comfortable shoes" gives nothing away. Or pack their bag yourself the night before.

Time Off Work

The trickiest part. Options: coordinate with their boss, book during a bank holiday weekend, or tell them you have "something planned for Friday" without saying what.

The Cover Story

"We're going to dinner" works for airport trips. "We're visiting my parents" buys a whole weekend. Our concierge can suggest a cover story that matches the logistics.

Surprise Trips by Occasion

Every occasion deserves a different kind of surprise.

Surprise birthday trip

The most popular surprise trip. Plan it for the weekend of their birthday — or the weekend before if their actual birthday is midweek. Destination depends on their personality: Paris for the romantic, Ibiza for the party-lover, Iceland for the adventurer.

Surprise anniversary trip

Return to where you got engaged, where you honeymooned, or where you had your first holiday together. Or go somewhere entirely new. Anniversaries are the perfect excuse for a long weekend with no children and no agenda.

Surprise proposal trip

They think it's a holiday. It's actually the trip where you propose. We arrange the setting, the photographer (hidden), and the celebration dinner. Santorini sunsets, Amalfi clifftops, and Paris rooftops are the most requested locations.

Surprise "just because" trip

No occasion needed. The best surprises are the unexpected ones — a Tuesday morning text saying "pack a bag, we're leaving at 4pm" is more romantic than any planned anniversary. Our concierge can arrange a same-week getaway.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I plan a surprise holiday without my partner finding out?

Our concierge communicates only with you — never your partner. We book everything under your name, send confirmations to your email only, and can even arrange for their bag to be packed secretly. On the day, you just say 'we're going somewhere' and we handle the rest.

What are the best destinations for a surprise holiday?

Popular surprise trip destinations include Paris (classic romance), Marrakech (exotic and warm), the Amalfi Coast (stunning scenery), Iceland (adventure), and the Maldives (luxury beach). For UK surprises: the Cotswolds, Lake District, or a Scottish castle. We match the destination to what your partner loves.

How far in advance should I plan a surprise trip?

For the best options, 4-6 weeks is ideal. For private jets and luxury hotels in peak season, 2-3 months gives us the most choice. That said, we've arranged surprise weekends in 48 hours — message us and we'll tell you what's possible.

Can you plan a surprise trip for a group?

Yes. Group surprise trips are one of our specialities — birthday trips, hen/stag weekends, and anniversary celebrations where only the organiser knows the destination. We coordinate flights, accommodation, and activities for the whole group.

What if my partner has dietary requirements or mobility needs?

Tell us everything relevant when you brief us. We factor in dietary requirements, mobility needs, medical considerations, phobias (heights, flying, etc.), and anything else. The surprise is the destination — the planning is meticulous.

How much does a surprise holiday cost?

A surprise UK weekend starts from around £500-£1,000. A surprise European city break from £1,500-£3,000. A surprise luxury trip (Maldives, safari, private jet) from £5,000+. We work to any budget and always confirm pricing before booking.
