Barcelona
Gaudí's Sagrada Família, the Gothic Quarter, La Boqueria market, Barceloneta beach. Disfrutar (3 Michelin stars) is one of Europe's best restaurants. Walk the city, eat everything, swim in the afternoon.
San Sebastián
More Michelin stars per capita than anywhere except Kyoto. La Concha beach, old-town pintxos bars, and Arzak (4th-generation Basque cuisine). The world's best food city, and the surf isn't bad either.
Seville
The Alcázar (Game of Thrones), Plaza de España, flamenco in Triana, and tapas crawling until midnight. Best in spring when the orange trees are in bloom and the festivals begin.
Granada
The Alhambra alone is worth the trip — book 3 months ahead. The Albaicín quarter, free tapas culture, and the Sierra Nevada ski resort 45 minutes away. Culture and nature in one city.
Spain's islands range from party to paradise — often on the same island.
Forget the package-holiday clichés. The Serra de Tramuntana mountains, Deià village, Palma's old town, and the best cycling in Europe. Finca hotels with infinity pools and olive groves. Private jet from London in 2h 20m.
Dalt Vila (UNESCO old town), sunset at Café del Mar, hidden coves on the north coast, and yes — the clubs. But Ibiza's quiet side (agroturismo hotels, yoga retreats, farm-to-table dining) is equally compelling.
A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve with over 200 beaches. Quieter, more natural, and more family-friendly than Mallorca or Ibiza. Cala Turqueta and Cala Macarella are among the Mediterranean's most beautiful.
Spain's year-round destination. Mount Teide (Spain's highest peak), black-sand beaches, and the lush Anaga Mountains. Perfect for a winter escape — 22C in January when London is 5C.
Barcelona (architecture, food, beach), San Sebastián (gastronomy capital), Mallorca (beaches, cycling, fincas), Ibiza (old town and nightlife), Seville (flamenco, tapas, Alcázar), Granada (Alhambra, Sierra Nevada), Marbella (luxury coast), Tenerife (year-round warmth), Madrid (art, nightlife), and Menorca (unspoilt beaches). Spain has something for every traveller.
April-June and September-October for most of Spain. July-August is very hot (40C+) in Andalusia and very crowded on the coasts. The Canary Islands offer year-round warmth (20-25C). San Sebastián is best June-September. Madrid and Barcelona are excellent in spring and autumn.
Yes. London to Barcelona is 2 hours, to Ibiza 2h 15m, to Mallorca 2h 20m, to Marbella 2h 30m. Private aviation gives access to smaller airports like San Sebastián, which has limited commercial options. Stirling Access compares private and commercial routes.
Mallorca for all-round quality (beaches, mountains, food, cycling). Ibiza for nightlife and the old town. Menorca for unspoilt beaches and quiet luxury. Tenerife for winter sun. Formentera for Caribbean-style beaches. Lanzarote for volcanic landscapes. It depends on what you want.
A quality villa in Mallorca or Ibiza starts from £2,000/week (off-peak) to £10,000+/week (peak, luxury). Mainland villas in Andalusia or Catalonia are often 30-50% cheaper. Stirling Access sources villas, arranges private aviation, and books restaurants.
